Energy conservation through building adaptation and retrofitting can save the building owner considerable amounts of money on their energy bills as well as reduce environmental impacts. Opportunities for energy conservation range from installing programmable thermostats to updating lighting to compact fluorescent lighting, from installing proper insulation to installing low-flow aerators, from air sealing to changing furnaces. Options for energy conservation without rebuilding abound.
Four Seasons Design and Remodeling offers capabilities to retrofit and adapt your home to conserve energy and to conserve your budget. Four Seasons Design and Remodeling uses air-infiltration testing to determine where air is entering, and escaping, your home. From this diagnostic testing, we can determine methods to seal your home and reduce your energy costs. Four Seasons Design and Remodeling strives to use Energy Star rated products in all of our projects. We are dedicated to reducing energy waste and creating efficient buildings.
Four Seasons Design and Remodeling performed the contracting work involved in an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant received by Darling Street Apartments. The project included dense packing insulation in the walls, adding blown insulation to the attics, installing air baffles; installing 1/2 rigid board insulation on the exterior of the walls; replacing the soffits, fascias and gutters; installing vinyl siding; air sealing the walls and attics and applying spray foam to crawl space walls. Ten existing 70% efficient furnaces were replaced with 95%, two-pipe high efficiency furnaces. Additionally, gas door lamps were replaced with electric compact fluorescent lights. The expected energy and utility savings resulting from the project is 50% savings on natural gas, 18% savings on electricity, and 10% savings on water.
Four Seasons Design and Remodeling has been involved in the Indiana Builders Association's Home Energy Conservation Program for over a year. Through this program, Four Seasons Design and Remodeling has made dozens of homes in the Steuben County area more energy efficient. The work involved with these projects include air sealing, insullating, and HVAC, plumbing, and electrical upgrading.
Jeff Deahl, owner of Four Seasons Design and Remodeling, has been in the construction business all of his life. Starting his career as a teenager working in his father and grandfather's woodworking factory, Jeff has always enjoyed building things. While attending Toledo University for mechanical drawing and construction, he worked on building and remodeling projects on the side. Deahl started building houses with a partner and then concentrated on the remodeling business and has been in the remodeling business ever since. Jeff is an active member of the local builders association and was instrumental in starting the Remodelers Showcase Tour, which hes had a project in every year. Jeffs been the Builders Association of Northeast Indianas 2001 President, a State Director for multiple years and an active board member since 1995. Jeff also has the Certified Remodeler designation from the National Remodelers industry. Jeff is very proud of every project that Four Seasons undertakes and completes.
Lou Salge graduated cum laude from Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture. During his studies at Lawrence Tech, Lou received scholarships and awards from organizations such as the Indiana Architectural Foundation and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, as well as awards from Lawrence Tech. He has been involved in architectural competitions organized by eVolo, Arquitectum, SuckerPunch Daily, and the SocioDesign Foundation. Before attending Lawrence Tech, Lou worked for Miller Enterprises remodeling and renovating homes in the Columbia City, Indiana area.
